Is it allowed to take Cesarean Section during lactation? |
|
C-section by either general or epidural anesthesia is not a contraindication to breastfeeding. It is highly recommended to initiate early attachment (skin-to-skin contact) just after delivery if epidural anesthesia was used (intra C-section attachment) or right after the mother has recovered from general anesthesia. It is not justified to separate the mother and the infant after a C- section or admit the child to the nursery just to wait for the mother to recover. |
