Is it allowed to take Ciclesonide during lactation? |
|
Since the last update we have not found published data regarding breastfeeding, but its pharmacokinetic characteristics (low systemic absorption, moderately elevated molecular weight, high plasma protein binding and large volume of distribution, AEMPS 2014, FDA 2012) make it very unlikely its excretion into breast milk in significant amounts and its subsequent absorption by the infant. At normal doses it is very rarely absorbed orally or via inhalation (nasal or pulmonary), and does not reach significant levels in plasma (FDA 2012). Experts in breastfeeding and medication consider topical, oral or inhaled corticosteroids to be compatible with breastfeeding (National Asthma Education 2004, Ellsworth 1994, Greenberger 1987). |
