Is it allowed to take Bacitracin-Zinc during lactation?
Is it safe for a nursing mother and a child?

Polypeptide with anti-microbial activity that is produced by strains of Bacillus licheniformis or Bacillus subtilis. Indicated for topical use (high nephrotoxicity with systemic use) Not absorbed through skin, mucosa or intestinal tract. When orally taken it is destroyed by the gut with no pass into the blood stream. Preferably, avoid it on the breast or clear it out before nursing. Avoid use of creams, gels and other topical medication containing paraffin (petroleum-derived mineral oil) in order to avoid the risk of absorption by the child. The WHO Model List of Essential Medicines 2002 rates it as compatible with breastfeeding.

Putting on normal skin it doesnt bother me. I put on wound and it caused rash. Neosporin and Polysporin same thing. For mole removed just use vaseline and healed great. Just because you test it on healthy skin doesnt mean it wont cause rash on a wound.

had 2 skin growths removed from my face. both were removed by punch method. was given bacitracin ointment to be applied to post surgical areas. developed itchy rash on one area and spreading rash on second area. seeing doctor again in three days. discontined applications. may call doctor sooner.

i had a ingrown toe nail. this medicine would not have treated my infection alone, but i suppose it helped.
