Is it allowed to take Dimetindene Maleate (Topical use) during lactation? |
|
First generation antihistamine, alkylamine, with sedative and antimuscarinic effect. It is used in the form of gel or cream for itchy skin relief. At latest update no published data on excretion into breast milk was found. Because a low dermal absorption and high plasma protein binding capacity, the passage of a significant amount into breast milk is unlikely. Do not apply on the chest to prevent ingestion by the infant; otherwise, apply it after having nursed the infant and rinse it thoroughly with water before the next feeding.Avoid applying creams, gels and other local application product containing paraffin to the nipple (mineral oil) for the infant not absorbed. The systemic use (oral, nasal or intravenous inhalation) during breastfeedingis considered to risky. See Dimethindene maleate (systemic use) |
