Is it allowed to take Lacosamide during lactation?
Is it safe for a nursing mother and a child?

Antiepileptic drug which is not considered by the FDA and EMA an indication for treatment of neuropathic pain for lack of definite proof. At latest update, relevant data on its excretion into breast milk were not found. Because of its pharmacokinetics, excretion into breast milk in significant amount is likely. Until more information on this drug is available, other options that are known to be safer are recommended, especially when the baby is a newborn or a premature.

My daughter, who has bilateral temporal lobe partial seizures, has been very resistant to all meds, with some working a short time only to cease effectiveness after a few weeks or months. The Vimpat, which was prescribed about five months into her treatment, caused her to be so sleepy, indeed almost unresponsive that we had to take her off it. This problem persisted at even the lowest dosages.

I have been on this med along with clonazepam and it has been working wonderfully.
