Is it allowed to take Chorionic Gonadotrophin Alpha during lactation? |
|
It is a copy of the natural hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) produced by recombinant DNA technology. It is not secreted into breast milk because of a large molecular weight. It is readily destroyed by the child’s stomach acid milieu. No untoward effect has been described. Keep in mind that there is a known anovulatory effect of lactation that is related to sucking frequency. |
