Is it allowed to take Propofol during lactation?
Is it safe for a nursing mother and a child?

Because of a high protein-binding capacity and a high volume of distribution, excretion into the breast milk is non-significant. No side-effects were observed in breastfed infants of mothers who were administered this medication. The nursing mother may breastfeed the baby as soon as she is recovered from anesthesia. A transient increase in Prolactin plasma levels has been observed with Propofol anesthesia. A case of green-bluish discoloration of the milk has been reported after administration of Propofol plus other drugs. Authorized medication for use in infants older than 1 month.

First ever colonoscopy. No discomfort at all. Woke up alert. No grogginess. Only issue I had was dry Cotten mouth feeling, but that is minor in the scheme of things.

Had my second endoscopy today where propofol was used. In previous procedures, including hip replacement, sedatives were used. The advantage for me is that when you wake up from the procedure, you are awake and aware. With the other forms of sedation I was groggy for hours after the procedure. I have experienced no adverse side effects from this medication, no nausea, etc. Both uses were in a hospital setting.

Just had my second colonoscopy after my initial one 10 years ago. Propofol was administered by IV and was very effective, absolutely NO side effects. Much prefer it over conscious sedation like my first one.
