Is it allowed to take Acetorphan during lactation? |
|
An anti-enkephalin that decreases intestinal secretion. Since the latest update, we have not found published data on its excretion in breast milk. Its high percentage of protein binding makes it unlikely it will transfer to milk in significant quantities. Possible side effects are not serious or frequent. Its use is authorized in infants from 3 months of age (Pediamecum 2015) Its indiscriminate use in treating gastroenteritis is not justified. Most cases of gastroenteritis do not require medication: good hydration is sufficient, even more so in the case of a breastfeeding mother. |
