Is it allowed to take Palate Fissure during lactation? |

Leporine lip without palate fissure: Breastfeeding is feasible, it is difficult however. The defect must be obturated by keeping the child’s mouth closed to the breast, or making the breast to fit to it, or by using the mother’s thumb as a seal. Palate fissure with or without leporine lip: very difficult to attain proper sucking because latch-on the breast is hardly achieved. Assistance for mother’s frustration relief is desirable. keep-on pumping breast milk and offer it with a glass, bottle or tube. Those cases, where just the soft palate is affected, breastfeeding is easier. For those children with Pierre Robin anomaly breastfeeding is almost impossible. Assess every case for the use of especial nipples. Mostly, it is worth to try starting breastfeeding because those formula-fed infants are more likely to develop aspirative complications. Mother’s milk aspiration episodes are largely milder conditions (autologous fluid, leukocyte content, easy reabsorption). Conversely, formula milk aspiration is a more serious complication that frequently lead to pneumonia and otitis media. After corrective surgery, which is done earlier now, breastfeeding may be resumed as soon as possible. |
