Ergot derivative alkaloid. It may inhibit prolactin secretion. It is used together with other substances (e.g. caffeine, which is a cause of anxiety). Multiple drug association is not recommended. On latest update relevant data on breastfeeding was not found. Sumatriptan which is a drug with well known low excretion into breast milk should be an alternative treatment for Migraine.

It has helped my headaches for over 10 years and now they are no longer making the medicine. Now to find one that will. Very disturbing that the company is no longer making it.

I have used ergotamine drugs over 40 years, when I started getting cluster headaches. Now my migraines are intermittent. No other migraine drugs have worked for me. Ergotamine-Caffeine Oral is easy to use and effective for migraine onset. If I get a full blown migraine before I take the drug it takes a long time to work.

Medication has been discontinued by the manufacturer... have to switch meds. FDA required the manufacturer to pull it from the market since it was never properly studied and actually grandfathered in years ago. Other than that, the med when used gave me severe stomach upset but that beats a migraine any day. Reliable, easy to use, cheap, and effective.
